Organizations will collaborate to improve mental health screening of youth in juvenile detention facilities

May 14, 2012

The Children's Law Center announced a joint project with the Children's Defense Fund-Ohio to strengthen mental health screening practices in juvenile detention facilities. The project, which is supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, will work with interested Ohio counties to better identify and provide intervention for detained youth with mental health needs. The overall goal of the project is to develop and implement a mental health screening model for juvenile detention centers interested in improving policies and procedures at the most critical intervention point – when a youth enters detention.
