Ask the candidates: What about long-term care?

February 21, 2012

According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), millions of Americans face a crisis every day when they need or have a family member who needs long-term care services. They must spend-down their life savings, take on an enormous burden as caregivers, face long waiting lists, or use an expensive nursing home instead of staying at home.

While long-term care is a critical issue for millions of seniors, people with disabilities, and family caregivers, it has received little attention by the Presidential candidates. During the months leading up to the November election, the NCOA encourages people to raise awareness with Presidential candidates about the issues related to obtaining long-term care services.

The NCOA provides ideas and ways on how to contact the candidates online and in your community. For more information: National Council on Aging
