(Enacted) Ohio House Bill 318 - School Resource Officers

To define the necessary qualifications and responsibilities of school resource officers.


  • Prescribes training requirements for school resource officers (peace officers with specialized training);
  • Permits a school resource officer to provide services related to a school district's or school's comprehensive emergency management plan; and
  • Establishes a $10 million grant through the Attorney General's office to allow school's the opportunity to aquire funding for the training of school resource officers and other safety related training. 
  • The language from SB 246 was amended into this bill.
