Assistive technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, or system commonly used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of people with disabilities. Examples include adapted eating utensils, picture communication boards, radios with special switch devices, screen readers, wheelchairs, electric van lifts, software programs and communication devices.

Disability Rights Ohio assists people with disabilities in acquiring necessary AT devices and services by providing information about the right to AT and types of AT available, as well as negotiating with service providers for the provision of AT devices and services.
