DRO Joins National Celebration of Pro Bono Week
October 22, 2019 by DRO Attorney Alison McKay
Did you know that October 20-26 is the National Celebration of Pro Bono week? During the last week of October of every year, the nation celebrates remarkable pro bono work completed by lawyers, paralegals and law students. Across Ohio, thousands of attorneys donate their time and expertise to participate in pro bono legal assistance. Their contributions make an incredible difference to their clients and to our communities.
Disability Rights Ohio appreciates and celebrates the services of the attorneys, paralegals and law students who partner with our organization to provide invaluable pro bono legal assistance to our clients. These volunteers assist DRO in bringing significant impact litigation, providing legal research, advancing communication and outreach, and accepting individual cases for representation.
In particular, Disability Rights Ohio recognizes the many attorneys and paralegals with Nationwide Insurance and McDonald Hopkins LLC who volunteer their time and talent to represent DRO clients in Medicaid appeal cases through our Medicaid Pro Bono Program. Our office cannot always meet the needs of people who have been denied necessary Medicaid services or equipment and who need help with the complicated Medicaid appeals process. These volunteer attorneys and paralegals help level the playing field by ensuring that people with disabilities are more fairly represented in the Medicaid appeal process. They are passionate and resolute about getting their clients the services they need, and we celebrate their work and critical partnerships this week and always.
