#AdvocacyMatters: Make a Splash
September 20, 2024 / #AdvocacyMatters
Next week you have a chance to be part of something special. On Wednesday, hundreds of rubber ducks will race down the Muskingum River in Marietta towards a finish line at the Putnam Ave bridge. The numbers on the first three ducks to reach the finish will each correspond to one of our supporters, with all three finishers earning prizes.
Each duck on the water is more than just a chance at prizes… every duck bobbing down the river represents an investment into the work our team does all across Ohio each and every day. Disability Rights Ohio is a nonprofit organization, and our core work is funded by a series of federal grants. The only way we can grow our reach and expand our work is by securing additional funding. From both public and private grants to individual donations, these investments make a real difference in the communities we serve throughout Ohio.
There’s plenty of ways you can still get involved in this fun event:
- Sponsor ducks! Each duck costs just $5 to sponsor, and puts you in the running for our $500 top prize. The more ducks you sponsor, the better your odds of winning.
- Share the event with your friends and family! Helping us raise awareness about the event and our work can amplify and multiply your investment.
- Order merch! You can still order our exclusive 2024 Duck Derby t-shirt, baseball cap, and tote bag, to show your support of our work all year long.
- Watch it live! The Duck Derby will be streamed on the DRO Facebook page, starting at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25th. The winners will be announced live during the stream!
No matter how you choose to participate, your support helps us bring our vision closer to reality. You can check out all the ways to get involved at disabilityrightsohio.org/duck-derby
