Disabilities Treaty passes committee, now awaits vote by full Senate

July 22, 2014 / CRPD

Today the Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and soon it will head to the full Senate for a ratification vote, possibly as early as next week! This international human rights treaty will extend rights protections like those guaranteed by the Americans with Disabilities Act to millions of people with disabilities worldwide. Ohio’s Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman will soon have the opportunity to vote on ratifying this historic treaty.
